Boise State Soccer Releases Official 2010 Schedule?

Broncos home for five contests in 2010.

BOISE, Idaho (7/6/2010) – Boise State soccer has released its official 2010 schedule for this coming fall. The schedule has the Broncos on the road for the majority of this season’s 19 matches as they will   participate in three away tournaments. The home schedule includes five matches at the Boas Tennis and Soccer Complex.

Boise State will play one home game in September on Sunday the 12th versus Seattle University. The remaining four will come during Western Athletic Conference action. The WAC home games include meetings with New Mexico State University and Louisiana Tech University on Oct. 8th and 10th respectively, followed by a home contest on Oct. 24th against the University of Idaho and on Oct. 29th versus Fresno State.

The season begins with a weekend trip to the state of Oregon where the Broncos will play at the University of Oregon on Friday, Aug. 20th, to open the season.  That will be followed by a match at Portland State University on Sunday, Aug. 22nd.

During the remaining nonconference schedule Boise State will participate in three away tournaments beginning with the Air Force Fall Classic Aug. 27-29 in Colorado Springs, Colo., where the Broncos will play Air Force and Colorado College.   The next weekend is the annual Governor’s Cup which is hosted by Idaho State University this year in Pocatello, Boise State’s opponents will be Utah Valley and Idaho State. That is followed by a tournament at the University of Montana in Missoula where the Broncos will play Montana and the University of New Mexico on Sept. 17th and 19th respectively.

The nonconference schedule wraps up with a road trip to play at the University of Wyoming in Laramie on Sept. 24th followed by a contest on the 26th at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.

Boise State’s final WAC campaign will begin the first weekend of October when they travel to play at the University of Hawaii on the 1st. That will be followed by the home contests versus New Mexico State and La Tech on Oct. 8th and 10th.

The third weekend of October has Boise State playing at Utah State University on the 15th and at the University of Nevada on the 17th.  The league schedule concludes with the Broncos hosting Idaho on Oct. 24th and Fresno State on the 29th, before they close the regular season on Nov. 1 at San Jose State.

This year’s Western Athletic Conference Tournament is being hosted by Louisiana Tech University in Ruston the week of Nov. 4-7. Boise State is the defending WAC Tournament champions after winning the competition in Boise last November to advance to the NCAA Tournament’s first round.

In all it will be a challenging schedule for Boise State who will have to face most of its opponents on the road in 2010. It will also mark the final trip through the WAC as the Broncos prepare for a move into the Mountain West Conference in 2011.  Note, Boise State does face three of its future MWC rivals this coming fall when they play Air Force, New Mexico and Wyoming.

Boise State should be well positioned for this year’s campaign returning eight of 11 starters and 17 letterwinners. The Broncos are coming off their best finish in the program’s 12 year history going a record 13-7-4 overall and 5-3 in league to place tied for third, and winning the WAC Tournament title.
