LAS VEGAS - Boise State's women's tennis advanced two doubles teams to the quarterfinals of the 2011 ITA Regional Championships in Las Vegas Friday.
The doubles team of Marlena Pietzuch and Sonia Klamczynska were the first Broncos to advance on Friday, defeating Colorado State's Lauren Mulhern and Kaley Schultz, 8-2. The win faces the Bronco pair against No. 1-seeded Anastasia Puttina and Callie Craig of Utah in the quarterfinals at 10:00 a.m. (MT) on Saturday.
Boise State's second doubles pair of Sandy Vo and Manuela Pietzuch earned an 8-3 win over Utah State's McKenzie Davis and Monica Abella, advancing to the quarterfinal round in their half of the bracket. The pair will take on Montana's Heather Davidson and Laurence Pelchat at 10:00 a.m. (MT) on Saturday in the quarterfinal round.
The semifinals for both sides of the brackets will be played at 12:00 p.m. (MT) on Saturday.
In singles play, the Broncos entered the day with one player remaining in action however; Marlena Pietzuch fell out of the singles competition Friday after falling to Denver's Caroline Schnell, 3-6, 6-4, 3-6, in the round of 16.
