Swimming and Diving Inks Seven Incoming Freshmen

2012 Signing Class

   Devin Madsen

   Emri Moore

   Taylor Padington

   Sam Wicks

Boise State women's swimming and diving signed seven swimmers for the 2012-13 season during the fall signing period, head coach Kristin Hill announced, Tuesday. The incoming class boasts strengths in backstroke, butterfly and freestyle events.

"With the strength of the seniors we have graduating, we knew it was important that we addressed some needs so that we didn't go into next season with any holes," Hill said. "We feel that we addressed our needs very well, and we couldn't be happier with this incoming class of 2016."

Representing two countries and five different states, Boise State's signing class features state champions, senior nationals qualifiers, junior nationals finalists and a pair of Olynpic Trials qualifier. The Broncos will welcome Talie Anchustegui (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Blake Balogh (Lincoln, Neb.), Jennifer Domanowski (Arlington, Wash.), Devin Madsen (Walnut Creek, Calif.), Emri Moore (Spokane, Wash.), Taylor Padington (Campbell River, B.C.) and Sam Wicks (Anchorage, Alaska) to the team next year.

The class also has a familiar feel to Boise State. Balogh is the younger sister of current Bronco Brooke Balogh and Anchustegui is the daughter of two Boise State alumni.

The crop of new Broncos brings a lot of success at the high school and club swimming levels. Hill thinks that winning experience can help the Broncos overcome losing this year's senior class, the most successful class of Bronco swimmers and divers to date. The most glaring losses will be Amber Boucher and Stephanie North, who competed at last season's NCAA Championships.

"Though it's very challenging to replace two seniors who have competed at the NCAA Championships, I really feel that we have signed a class that could have several girls competing at the NCAA Championships their freshmen year. It will be exciting to help them achieve this," Hill said.
