Boise State Heads for the Islands and Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational

► What’s Happening
Boise State University’s women’s golf team is off to the islands for the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational this week. The Broncos will be one of 19 teams competing in the 26th edition of this annual competition at the Kane’ohe Klipper Golf Course in Kane’ohe, Hawaii. This is the second tournament for Boise State this spring.

► Tournament Format for the Invitational
This tournament will feature the typical five-person squads with the top-four scores per round counting towards the team tally. The competition format for this event calls for three rounds of stroke play staged over two days. The teams will play 36-continuous holes on Monday followed by the final round on Tuesday. Both days will begin by shotgun start at 12:00 p.m. (Mountain).

► The Host Course
Kane’ohe Klipper Golf Course in Kane’ohe, Hawaii (metro Honolulu), will serve as the host course for this event. The tournament will be staged as a par-72 played over a 5,907-yard course.

► The Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational Field
The field for this tournament will consist of 17 NCAA Division I and one NCAA Division II programs and one team from Japan. Boise State, Fresno State, Hawai’i, Idaho and Nevada will represent the Western Athletic Conference at this competition. Also competing are five teams ranked by Golfweek: Arizona (No. 10), Arizona State (No. 9), Notre Dame (No. 21), and UNLV (No. 74). The other teams competing include: Cal State Northridge, Gonzaga, Hawai’i-Hilo, Osaka Gakuin (Japan), Sam Houston State, Seattle, Vanderbilt, Washington State, Wichita State, and Wyoming.

► Boise State’s Tournament Roster
Competing for Boise State in Hawaii will be Hayley Young at the first position, followed by Jenna Leurquin, Michelle Gooding, Katie Somers and Lori Harper.
