► What's Happening - Two Boise State track and field athletes, Eetu Viitala and Alex Nelson, will head to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field National Championship Final Rounds next week, June 8-11. The meet is hosted by Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Nelson is set to compete in the men's hammer throw, while Viitala will compete in the men's long jump.
► Meet Specifics - Hosted by Drake University, the meet will consist of four days of competition at Drake Stadium, each of which include a multi-event competition earlier in the day, as well as individual track and field events in the afternoons and evenings. Both Broncos compete on June 9, with Nelson taking the competition field first at 2 p.m. (MT) for the hammer throw. Viitala will begin his competition on Thursday as well, starting at 4:35 p.m. (MT) in the long jump. ► Meet Information - The NCAA National Championship meet competition fields are built with 24 competitors in each event. There are 12 qualifiers from both the NCAA East and NCAA West Preliminary Rounds which were held May 26-28, hosted by the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore., and Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. The national meet will consist of a quarterfinal round (prelims), semifinal round and final round in Des Moines, Iowa. Those who finish in the top-8 of their event will earn NCAA All-America First Team honors, while 9-16 are named to the second team and 17-24 are honorable mention.

► Bronco Review - The Broncos sent three team members to the 2010 NCAA National Championship meet with Pontus Thomee placing second in the javelin throw, Zach Arnos capturing an 11th-place finish in the triple jump and Kurt Felix snagging a 13th-place spot in the decathlon.
► 2011 Qualifying Broncos - Two Broncos earned their first career trips to the NCAA National Championship Final Rounds this season. Eetu Viitala enters as the 2011 indoor and outdoor Western Athletic Conference Champion in the long jump, as well as the No. 23 ranked competitor in the field of 24 athletes. Alex Nelson is the reigning 2011 WAC hammer throw champion and enters the meet with a No. 14 ranking amongst the 24 competitors.
