BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State men's cross country team was ranked No. 9 in the 2011 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division I West Region preseason rankings on Monday (Aug. 29).
The USTFCCCA recognizes the top-15 Division I teams in each of their nine regions across the country in their rankings. The Broncos finished the 2010 season ranked No. 7 in the region after capturing the Western Athletic Conference title and placing seventh at the 2010 NCAA West Regionals.
The Broncos are the only Mountain West team ranked in the USTFCCCA Region, while TCU ranks No. 13 in the South Central Region. The majority of the Mountain West teams reside in the Mountain Region with New Mexico (#4), Air Force (#5), Wyoming (#6) and Colorado State (#7) all making the top-15 rankings.
The 2011 national preseason coaches' poll will be released on Tuesday, Aug. 30.
The Boise State cross country teams will begin their 2011 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the fourth annual Roger Curran Invitational held in Nampa's West Park. The men will race an 8-kilometer course, while the women will run a 4-kilometer course, slated to begin at 12:45 p.m.
