Former Boise State football student-athlete Korey Hall and the New Orleans Saints helped usher in the 2011 National Football League season Thursday, in a game against his former team, the Green Bay Packers.
Hall and Daryn Colledge helped lead the Packers to victory in Super Bowl XLV last season, and each – Hall with the Saints and Colledge with the Arizona Cardinals – is now with a different team.
Including Hall and Colledge, there are currently 14 former Broncos on active NFL rosters – the most of any team in the Mountain West. San Diego State and TCU each have 12 former players in the NFL.
The Broncos’ current list includes:
Richie Brockel, TE – Carolina Panthers
Chris Carr, CB – Baltimore Ravens
Ryan Clady, OT – Denver Broncos
Daryn Colledge, OG – Arizona Cardinals
Korey Hall, FB – New Orleans Saints
Jeron Johnson, DB – Seattle Seahawks
Quintin Mikell, DB – St. Louis Rams
Legedu Naanee, WR – Carolina Panthers
Austin Pettis, WR – St. Louis Rams
Orlando Scandrick, CB – Dallas Cowboys
Brandyn Thompson, DB – Washington Redskins
Winston Venable, S – Chicago Bears
Kyle Wilson, CB – New York Jets
Titus Young, WR – Detroit Lions
Five of the players were on last year’s team – Johnson, Pettis, Thompson, Venable and Young – and there are two squads that feature multiple Broncos. The Carolina Panthers boast Brockel and Naanee, and the St. Louis Rams feature both Mikell and Pettis.
In all, 12 of the 32 league clubs feature at least one player from Boise State. --broncosports.com--
