Gammel and Rose lead team with double-doubles.
LARAMIE, Wyoming - Boise State volleyball lost 3-1 Saturday night on the road at Wyoming in a Mountain West match. The Broncos won the opening set 25-20 before the Cowgirls rallied to win the next three 25-20, 25-20, 25-23 to claim the victory. Alyssa Gammel led Boise State with her 12th double-double of the year on 15 kills and 11 digs, followed by Brittany Reardon with 10 kills.
Boise State opened the match with a 25-20 win in the first set hitting .242 percent with 15 kills. Unfortunately, the Cowgirls rallied winning the next three sets by pulling away from the Broncos midway through each period. In all three sets the Broncos attempted to rally cutting five to seven point deficits to one before losing down the stretch.
Gammel led the Broncos with her double-double of 15 kills and 11 digs while adding two service aces and two blocks recording a team-high 18 points in the contest. Reardon backed Gammel up with 10 kills and four blocks. Taylor Murphey had five kills and two blocks, Leah Stevens also had five kills. Sarah Webster tallied a team-high six blocks to go with three kills. Casey Rose also recorded a double-double on the night with 36 assists and 12 digs. Kersti Whitney had a team-best 20 digs.
On the night Boise State finished hitting .159 percent with 53 kills, 52 assists, five aces, 64 digs and 10.5 blocks. Wyoming countered by hitting .192 percent while recording 53 kills, 45 assists, one ace, 45 digs and 16 blocks. Camille Coffman led the Cowgirls with 15 kills and seven blocks, followed by Jodi Purdy and Reese Plante with 10 kills each.
The loss drops the Broncos to 11-12 overall and 3-5 in conference play. Meanwhile, Wyoming improves to 15-8 on the year and 3-5 in league. Boise State will be on the road next week when the Broncos play at Air Force on Saturday, Oct. 27, in their lone match of the week.
