WAHLAWA, Hawai’i –
Boise State senior women’s golfer Hayley Young
is in the top 10 following the first two rounds of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational Tuesday, the Broncos’ final tournament of the fall season.
Young carded rounds of 75-74 at the par-72, 6,228-yard Leilehua Golf Course, and is tied for 10th place with a 36-hole total of 149 (+5).
Playing in her home state, Young will be looking for her third-straight top-10 finish during Wednesday’s final round, and her fourth top-25 effort in as many tournaments to start the season. She is just five strokes back of the tournament leader.
Freshman Samantha Martin
is a stroke back of her senior teammate after posting back-to-back rounds of 75 (+3). She is currently tied for 12th place with a two-round total of 150 (+6), and will be looking for a third-straight top-25 finish.
Fellow freshman McKenzie Ford
and senior Lori Harper
are each one stroke back of the top 25, tied for 26th at 9-over-par (153). The duo each shot 76 (+4) in the first round, and 77 (+5) in the second. Ford is on pace to notch her best finish as a Bronco, and Harper is looking for her second top-25 finish of the fall season.
The Broncos are in fifth place as a team after shooting back-to-back rounds of 302 (+14). At 604 (+28) for the tournament, Boise State is just nine strokes back of a first-place tie between Toledo and Florida International.
Boise State is also just seven strokes back of third-place Washington State, and two strokes back of fourth-place UC Irvine.
Freshman Sammie Pless
rounded out the scoring for the Broncos, shooting 156 (+12; 80-76) on the day.
