The Boise State University men’s golf team completed its first tournament of the spring season Tuesday, with junior Taeksoo Kim leading the way at the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational.
Kim fired rounds of 76 (+4) and 75 (+3) at the 6,828-yard Sunbrook Golf Club, finishing in a tie for 36th with a 36-hole total of 151 (+7). He was just three strokes back of notching his fourth top-25 finish of the season after recording three in four fall tournaments.
Senior Scott Spiewak and redshirt junior Jordan Skyles rebounded during the tournament’s final round, each posting a 2-over-par 74. Spiewak concluded the event with a two-round total of 153 (+9), while Skyles finished with a 36-hole score of 156 (+12).
The Broncos improved by 10 strokes as a team from their first-round total, climbing three spots into 11th with a two-round total of 608 (+32).
Freshman Jon VanDyk (153, +9) and senior Taylor Porter (155, +11) rounded out the Bronco contingent.
Boise State continues its season March 5-6 at the Fresno State Lexus Classic. The tournament will be held at the par-72, 6,765-yard Fort Washington Country Club in Fresno, Calif. --broncosports.com--
