GOODYEAR, Ariz. –
Senior Scott Spiewak fired a 1-under-par 71 at the Desert Shootout Thursday, earning a share of 16th place following the opening round of the three-day event.
Spiewak was one of 26 golfers in the 94-player field to post a sub-par round at the 7,015-yard Palm Valley Golf Course. He enters Friday’s second round three strokes back of the top 10.
Sitting just one stroke back of Spiewak is fellow senior Taylor Porter, who carded an even-par 72 – good for a 27th-place tie. Juniors Taeksoo Kim and Clayton Kosanovich are just two strokes back of the top 20 following opening rounds of 73 (+1).
Redshirt sophomore Jordan Skyles rounded out the scoring for the Broncos with a 78 (+8).
Boise State currently sits in 10th place with a team score of 289 (+1), just six strokes back of the top five. The squad will begin Friday’s second round with tee times off the back nine at 8:30 a.m. (MT). --broncosports.com--
