COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
Boise State senior Damian Hume has been selected as the Mountain West Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.
Hume, a native of Johannesburg, South Africa, went a combined 3-1 last week as 31st-ranked Boise State posted victories over TCU (W, 5-2) and 61st-ranked New Mexico (W, 5-2), respectively. Hume picked up two singles wins during the Broncos' road trip to Fort Worth, Texas and Albuquerque, N.M. Positioned at the second singles position, the senior defeated JT Sundling of TCU on Friday in three sets (6-4, 2-6, 6-2), after teaming with Scott Sears to down the Horned Frogs' No. 2 doubles tandem of Nick Chappell and Will Stein, 9-8 (7-3), to start the Conference dual. In Sunday's match against the Lobos, Hume rebounded from a first-set loss to defeat New Mexico's Ben Dunbar, 6-7, 6-4, 6-3.
Hume marks the fourth Bronco to earn the conference honor this season, joining Andy Bettles, James Meredith and Nathan Sereke.
Hume and the Broncos will take part in their final regular season matches this season when they host College of Idaho and UNLV, Friday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. respectively.
