The Boise State men's tennis team was selected to play Florida State in the first round of the NCAA tournament, it was announced Tuesday. The Broncos join the national two-seed, Georgia, and South Carolina State. Boise State will play the first of the two regional semifinals, beginning Saturday, May 12 at 9 a.m. ET, while Georgia will take on South Carolina State at noon.
The tournament nod is the 15th in Boise State history and the seventh appearance in the past eight years, missing only the 2011 tournament.
The selection is a dose of déjà vu for the two teams as they met for the first round of the 2010 NCAA tournament with the same seeding and at the same regional site. Florida State was victorious in that meeting, 4-0.
This year's Florida State team enters the tournament with an 18-9 record overall, and a 10-9 record against ranked opponents. The Seminoles are the No. 2 seed in the four-team-pod, meaning their national rank lies somewhere between 17th and 32nd. FSU was ranked 30th in the, April 24 edition of the ITA/Campbell's Rankings before falling to Virginia in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament.
The Broncos earned an automatic qualifying position after winning the Mountain West Tournament with 4-0 sweeps against both TCU and New Mexico.
Live scoring and live video streaming will be available for all matches on Georgiadogs.com.
The fields for the individual portion of the tournament will be released no later than 4 p.m. MT tomorrow, May 2.
