Broncos Fall to Gonzaga, 2-1

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Boise State women's soccer team (2-2-0) dropped the final match of its road trip with a 2-1 defeat against Gonzaga.

Gonzaga got on the board first with a goal in the 40th minute as midfielder Jessica Bennett curled around the Bronco defense and fired a shot from 20 yards out and into the back of the net.

Parks found the equalizer right before the half in the 45th minute after the Bulldogs cleared a Bronco corner kick to defender Mandy Nader. Nader put the ball right back in the box where it took a bounce and hung in the air inside the six-yard box. Parks elevated over a Gonzaga defender to head the ball past the charging goalkeeper.

The goal by Parks was her first of the season and the 16th of her career, which moves her into a tie for third on the Boise State all-time list. It also moved her into sixth place on the career points list, with 37.

Gonzaga would take the lead again on a play that started from a long throw in on the left side. Heather Johnson found some space at the top of the 18 yard box and put a shot past McDevitt's left side.

McDevitt made four saves in the match, including numerous diving stops in one vs. one breaks.

The Broncos will return home for the Bronco Invite next weekend, Aug. 31-Sept. 2. Boise State will face Montana, Friday and Idaho State, Sunday.
