RENO, Nev. - Boise State senior Cody Dixon finished in fourth place at 197 pounds at the Reno Tournament of Champions Sunday, leading the Broncos at the annual event.
Dixon won each of his first two matches by decision, defeating Matt Williams (7-3) and Reuben Franklin of CSU Bakersfield (5-4).
After falling to Stanford's Dan Scherer (3-1), Dixon rebounded with a major decision in the wrestleback, defeating Marcus Haughian of Grand Canyon, 13-4.
From there, Dixon would square off in a pair of rematches from earlier in the tournament.
He first met Franklin, and notched another one-point victory (3-2). After advancing to the third-place match due to an injury forfeit, he would once against face Scherer, and fell via a 5-3 decision.
Sophomore Rami Haddadin (125), redshirt sophomore Travis Himmelman (141), junior Holden Packard (157) and redshirt sophomore Cole Rice (165) each went 2-2 in their respective weight classes.
Redshirt sophomore Chris Castillo went 1-1 at 149 pounds before an injury forced him out of the tournament, and redshirt freshman Austin Dewey won his first match at 174 pounds before withdrawing due to injury.
Redshirt freshmen Ty Stevenson (133) and Kevin Coburn (141) and redshirt sophomore Taylor West (165) each went 1-2, and redshirt senior Ben DeMeulle (133), redshirt freshman Chris Caldwell (141), redshirt junior Wilhelm Meyer (165) and redshirt freshman Andrew Tiedeman (184) each went 0-2.
Seniors J.T. Felix (285) and Jake Swartz (184) did not compete.
The Broncos return to action with a three-match Pac-12 road swing, beginning with Stanford, Jan. 9.
