BOISE, Idaho - Beck Roghaar, Boise State head women's tennis coach, announced today the addition of Milena Toseva to the program. Toseva comes to Boise State from Stuttgart, Germany, where she has been a standout in the youth ranks. She will join the team this January and will be eligible to play during the 2014 spring team season which starts on Jan. 25 at the University of Colorado.
"We are very pleased to announce that Milena will be joining our program in January," said Roghaar. "She is a tall, strong, physical player who comes to us with a wealth of experience at a very high level of tennis both in Germany as well as internationally. Milena is very serious about reaching her full potential on the court, and I love her work ethic out there. Her fun loving personality off the court will also fit in very well with her teammates and within our program. She is going to be a great addition at the beginning of our season, and I know that wonderful things lie ahead in her future here at Boise State."
Toseva, who stands 5-feet-11, has been ranked as high as No. 147 in the German Open rankings, which she obtained at the age of 16. In the German under-21 rankings she is currently in the top 70. Toseva was ranked third in the Bundesstaat Baden-Württemberg, on of the top areas for tennis in the country, and finished second at the 2013 U21 regional championships. The freshman to-be has won two women's national tournaments and multiple other titles during her young career. Toseva also reached the semifinals of a prestigious Tennis Europe tournament event in Skopje, Macedonia. She was awarded the 2011 player of the year at club STG Geroksruhe for her performance, results, and sportsmanship on the court.
"The reason why I decided to come to Boise was the welcoming feeling I got from the first moment speaking with the coaches," commented Toseva. "It is important to have a good coach for improving my tennis, and everyone who I spoke with about Boise State told me that the coaches are great! Coach Beck (Roghaar) and Coach Suzie (Matzenauer) were very nice! Also, on the academic side, I know that Boise State is a good university which was also very important for me. I'm very excited about my future teammates as they are very nice too, and I know that I made a great decision!"
