BOISE, Idaho - Boise State's student-athletes had another successful semester in the classroom during fall of 2013, as nearly 70 percent of the department recorded a grade-point average above 3.0.
Boise State student-athletes combined to record an all-department record GPA of 3.09, breaking the previous record of 3.07, set in spring of 2013. Bronco student-athletes have combined to record an all-department GPA above 3.0 for 13-consecutive semesters.
Sixty-eight percent of Bronco student-athletes had a GPA of 3.0-or-above during the previous fall semester.
Eleven programs combined to record GPAs above 3.0 this fall, including the women's golf team (3.65), which has recorded the highest semester GPA in each of the last four semesters.
Three programs set team records for semester GPA, including swimming and diving, men's golf and football.
Boise State's cumulative all-sport GPA is now 3.12, the highest on record for the department. Included are seven programs that have established team records: women's golf, swimming and diving, men's tennis, women's track and field, men's golf, football and men's basketball.
Boise State boasted 28 student-athletes with 4.0 GPAs this past semester, including D.J. Dean (football) and Sammie Pless (women's golf), who have each put together consecutive semesters with perfect GPAs. Dean has a 4.0 in each of the last two semesters, and Pless has a 4.0 in each of the last three.
