ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Megan LaLone won a pair of matches on Friday to move on at the USTA/ITA Women's Tennis Mountain Regional in Albuquerque, N.M. LaLone is the lone Bronco left at the regional carrying the Boise State flag through the consolation bracket advancing into Saturday's quarterfinal round.
The junior from Stanwood, Wash., opened Friday against New Mexico State's Chloe Joliff defeating the Aggie in straight sets 6-4, 6-1. LaLone then followed with a second straight-set victory tallying a 6-3, 6-1 win over Denver's Charlotte Derbyshire.
The win over Derbyshire advanced LaLone into Saturday's consolation quarterfinals against Denver's Gracia Mboko. After falling in her first match on Wednesday, LaLone has rallied to win three straight in the consolation draw.
