BOISE, Idaho - The 16th-ranked Boise State gymnastics team picked up its 11th win of the season Friday night topping San Jose State 196.20-195.550 in Taco Bell Arena. The Broncos (11-3) won three events as a team, while also taking four of the five individual titles on the night.
Boise State earned team scores of 48.925 on vault, a season-high 49.350 on uneven bars, 48.775 on balance beam and 49.150 on floor exercise. The Bronco's team total of 196.20 is their second-highest of the season.
Junior Ciera Perkins collected three wins on the night for the Broncos, winning on vault, uneven bars and floor exercise. Perkins opened the night with a 9.90 on vault, followed by a 9.925 on bars and a 9.90 on floor. Her wins marked the fifth of her career on vault, eighth on bars and sixth on floor. She now ties for ninth in the all-time season wins on bars (4) as well as tying for seventh in career bars wins (8). She is also tied for fourth in season wins on floor (5), while tying for ninth in career floor wins (6).
Freshman Diana Mejia tied with Perkins to win on bars, tying her career-best of 9.925. Her win marks the third of her career.
Junior Kelsey Morris earned the final win on the day for the Broncos, taking the all-around title in a career-best score of 39.325. She moves to a tie for third in all-time season wins in the all-around with five. Morris placed third on vault and bars with scores of 9.80 and 9.850, respectively. She placed second on beam and floor with scores of 9.80 and 9.875, respectively.
Krystine Jacobsen earned a career-best of 9.775 to place fourth on vault, while also tying with Maddie Krentz and two Spartans for fourth with 9.825's on bars. Paige Urquhart tied for third on beam with a score of 9.775, while Krentz also placed fourth on floor with a score of 9.825 to round out the Broncos' top scores.
San Jose State's Julia Greer captured the balance beam title, earning a score of 9.850. As a team the Spartans earned scores of 48.750 on vault, 48.90 on bars, 48.925 on beam and 48.975 on floor.
Boise State improves to 30-6-1 over SJSU with Friday's win.
The Broncos continue their home slate next Friday, Feb. 28 in a head-to-head competition with Iowa at Taco Bell Arena. The meet is scheduled for 7 p.m.
