COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Boise State track and field program collected three all-conference honors and one school record on Friday, the second day of the 2014 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships held at Air Force's Cadet Field House.
After six events scored the Bronco women sit in a tie for fifth-place with 20-points, while the men are in fifth-place with 14-points.
Senior Hayli Bozarth started the day off right earning an all-conference honor in the women's weight throw. The Norton, Kan., native earned a mark of 64-8 (19.71m) to place third.
Roderick Townsend collected the team's second all-conference nod of the day after clearing a personal-best height of 6-11 (2.11m) to place third in the men's high jump. The senior also recorded a personal-best of 22-3 (6.78m) to place 10th in the long jump.
The Bronco men's distance medley relay earned the final all-conference honor of the day after placing third. The combination of Zach Wiles, Rex Stanley, Kyle Brush and Drew O'donoghue-McDonald turned in a time of 10:26.92.
Freshman Allison Jeffries bettered her own school record in the pole vault clearing 13-2.25 (4.02m) to place fourth. She also ran a career-best of 8.80-seconds to place 11th in the 60-meter hurdle prelims.
Also scoring for the Broncos was Kimberly Miller who earned a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a career-best effort of 19-7 (5.97m). Karyna Armstrong scored in the weight throw with a personal-best of 62-1 (18.92m) to place seventh, while teammate Erin McLaughlin also earned a seventh-place finish in the women's 5000-meters (18:50.17).
Danny Verdieck ended his two-day heptathlon competition with an eighth-place finish and 4,456-points. He placed sixth in both the heptathlon 60-meter hurdles (8.53) and in the pole vault (12-5.50/3.80m), while placing seventh in the 1000-meters (3:07.25).
Qualifying through to Saturday's finals, Mackenzie Flannigan tied her own school record in the 60-meter dash (7.52), while also qualifying in second in the 200-meters in 24.26-seconds.
Jordin Andrade earned the fastest men's 400-meter qualifying time (48.33), earning him a spot in Saturday's finals, while Justin Malnes placed eighth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.27) to qualify to the finals as well.
The third and final day of the 2014 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships will begin at 10:00 a.m. (MT) with the men's shot put.
