Count Down to First Serve: Meet Aly Duffin

BOISE, Idaho - As part of's preview of Boise State volleyball we are featuring each player on a 14 day count down to the first serve against Gonzaga at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, in Bronco Gym to start the Northwest Challenge. We are starting with our seniors and working down the list by class.

Today's Bronco player preview highlights senior Aly Duffin.

Like the rest of the members of the volleyball team Duffin is a two-sport athlete for the Broncos, playing both indoor and sand volleyball. The native of Loomis, Calif., is a 5-foot-11 middle blocker. Since transferring from Georgia Southern following her freshman season she has started in 22 matches out of 35 played. Last year's hitting percentage of .375 ranks as the second-best single season mark all-time at Boise State.

10 Questions with Aly...

Q: Why did you choose Boise State?

A: My great grandpa lived in Boise, and my brother and I would come up in the summer and fall when we were little and go to football games. I have always loved Boise!

Q: What's been your favorite thing about Boise so far?

A: I love that there are a variety of fun things always going on, whether it's doing something outdoors or hanging out in downtown Boise.

Q: What are some of your favorite hobbies outside of volleyball?

A: I like to hang out with my teammates outside of volleyball.

Q: Which teammate would win at "America's Next Top Model"?

A: Coach Garus!

Q: What song gets you pumped up before a match?

A: I like all sorts of music before a match!

Q: What is your motto?

A: "C'est La Vie," It's French for "Such is Life."

Q: Who is your hero in life?

A: I would have to say my Mom, Dad, and Brother are all heroes in my life. I look up to them, they have taught me so many things and have supported me.

Q: If I could spend one day in history it would be with, why that person?

A: I would want to spend a day in history with Johnny Cash! I have always loved his music and I think he would be such a cool person to meet.

Q: Who has been the most influential figure in your life so far?

A: My Mom and Dad have been the most influential figures in my life!

Q: Looking to the future, what do you want to do in your life beyond college?

A: Being a general business major, I feel like I could have opportunities in different areas of business so I will be open to any job possibilities. J
