BOISE, Idaho - Redshirt junior running back Jay Ajayi claimed his second Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week honor of 2014, the conference announced Monday morning.
Ajayi was also recognized by Athlon Sports as its conference player of the week Monday.
Ajayi also becomes the first Boise State offensive player to capture multiple weekly conference honors in one season since running back D.J. Harper was recognized on Sept. 17 and Dec. 3, 2012.
The Plano, Texas native was previously recognized by the conference on Sept. 8, and earned his latest accolade with a three-touchdown performance in Saturday's 34-9 win over Louisiana. Ajayi accounted for 187 yards of offense, with 150 of those along with his three scores coming on the ground over 27 carries. It was Ajayi's fourth-career game with at least three rushing touchdowns as well as the ninth 100-yard rushing performance of his career, which is tied for 10th all-time in the Boise State record book.
Ajayi also caught five passes for 37 yards Saturday night against the Rajin' Cajuns.
On the year, Ajayi ranks in the national top 20 in all-purpose yards per game (174.5 ypg - seventh), rushing touchdowns (five - 10th), rushing yards (494 - 11th) and rushing yards per game (123.5 ypg - 14th). He is the Mountain West leader in three of those four categories, ranking second only in rushing yards per game.
Boise State (3-1, 1-0 MW) returns to conference action this Saturday, traveling to Colorado Springs to face Air Force (2-1, 0-1 MW) at 5 p.m. MT on CBS Sports Network.
