Marks Leads Boise State Past UNLV in OT

BOISE, Idaho (AP) Derrick Marks made a turnaround shot in the lane to force overtime and finished with 28 points to lead Boise State to an 82-73 victory over UNLV on Tuesday, at Taco Bell Arena.

UNLV went on a 10-2 run to take a 67-64 lead with 3:24 left. The Rebels' next point, a free throw by Patrick McCaw with 26 seconds left, gave them a 68-66 lead. After Marks' basket tied it at 68 with 16 second left, Rashad Vaughn's 3-pointer was off the mark.

James Webb III had 12 points and 15 rebounds for Boise State (11-6, 1-3 Mountain West Conference). Mikey Thompson added 13 points. Thompson scored six in the overtime period to help pull away.

The Broncos forced six turnovers in overtime alone, including a strip by Thompson which led to a breakaway dunk for Webb to put Boise State up 78-

Vaughn had 20 points and Patrick McCaw added 17 for UNLV (10-7, 1-3). Cody Doolin and Christian Wood chipped in 12 apiece. with one minute to go.

Vaughn hit a 3-pointer to start the overtime scoring and his two free throws with 1:43 left were UNLV's only other points in the extra session.

Three of the last seven meetings between Boise State and UNLV have gone to overtime, including three of the last four at Taco Bell Arena.
