TUSCALOOSA, Ala.--The 12th-ranked Boise State Broncos travelled to the sixth-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide on Friday night. Despite falling 195.450-197.800 to the Crimson Tide, four Broncos tied or bettered their season and career highs at the meet. Boise State will host Utah State this Sunday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. in Taco Bell Arena.
Boise State began the meet on the uneven bars where three Broncos marked their personal bests. Senior captain Ciera Perkins set her career best on the apparatus, scoring a 9.950. The score helped her claim a share of the bars title. This marks her second event win on the apparatus this season and 11th of her career. Fellow senior captain Kelsey Morris tied her season-best mark. Morris hit a 9.875 for her second-straight meet. Sophomore Mackenzie Bennion started the night for the Blue and Orange, where she recorded a 9.775 to tie her season and career best score. The Broncos finished with a 49.325 on bars, good for the second-best team score of the season.
On the second rotation on vault, Morris recorded a solid 9.80. Freshman Ann Stockwell tabbed a 9.825 in the fourth spot in the lineup. Junior captain Maddie Krentz was awarded a 9.850 for her second-highest mark of the season. Perkins anchored the vault lineup with a score of 9.90, tying for the second best overall score of the night.
On the third rotation, three Broncos recorded scores of 9.825 on floor exercise. Morris and Krentz hit the mark as the fourth and fifth gymnasts in the lineup, respectively. Bennion anchored on floor for the Broncos with her 9.825, which marked her second-best score of the season.
Sophomore Diana Mejia led off for Boise State on balance beam in rotation four. Mejia, the Vancouver, Wash., native, marked a 9.850 to tie her season best score. Junior Krystine Jacobsen anchored the rotation also with a 9.850. Paige Urquhart marked her second-best score of the season with a 9.825, and freshman Lianne Josbacher marked a 9.80.
The No. 12 Broncos will host conference foe Utah State this Sunday, Feb. 15 in Taco Bell Arena at 7 p.m.
