SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Boise State women's golf team completed their first tournament of the 2015 spring semester with a fifth-place finish at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invite.
Playing at the par-72, 6,143-yard Almaden Golf and Country Club yesterday and today, the Broncos posted a 54-hole team score of 926 (+62). Following opening rounds of 309 (+21) and 307 (+19) on Monday (Feb. 23), the women slipped to a 310 (+22) during Tuesday's (Feb. 24) final round missing out on a tie for third by three strokes.
Host San José State won the event with a team score of 897 (+33). Fresno State was second at 899 (+35), with Santa Clara and BYU tying for third with a 923 (+59) total in the 10-team tournament.
Two Boise State golfers finished in the top-15 with junior Sammie Pless posting a sore of 229 (+13) to tie for 10th and Samantha Martin one-stroke back at 230 (+14) to tie for 12th.
Megan Osland of San José State and Martina Edberg of Cal State Fullerton tied for medalist honors with a three-over par score of 219.
Boise State's other finishers included Genevieve Ling who placed 28th with a 235 score (+19), Dana Clary who tied for 31st with a 237 total (+21) and McKenzie Ford who finished 34th with a score of 238 (+22).
Next on the women's schedule is a trip to St. George, Utah, March 16 and 17 (Monday & Tuesday) for the BYU at Entrada Classic.
