Day One Results
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Bronco heptathletes Camdon Stoddard and Danny Verdieck competed on the first day of the 2015 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday. The duo set multiple personal bests in the first four events of the men's heptathlon.
The heptathletes competed in four events on the first day of competition, with the 60-meter dash, long jump, high jump and shot put.
Stoddard set three personal bests in the four events of the day. He shaved six hundredths of a second off his personal best in the 60-meter dash, marking a personal-best time of 7.43s. Stoddard would go on to jump a mark of 5.77m (18-11.25) in the long jump, also for a personal record. Stoddard set personal best in the high jump by 2.5 inches, clearing 1.88m (6' 2") for fifth place. Stoddard also placed tenth in the shot put with a distance of 10.57m.
Verdieck marked two personal records on Thursday. He set a personal record in the 60-meter dash as well with a time of 7.40s. Verdieck's indoor mark of 10.90m in the shot put also gave him a personal best. He would go on to mark 6.02m in the long jump and 10.90m in the shot put for ninth place.
Day two of conference action begins at 11 a.m. tomorrow with the final three heptathlon events. The women's weight throw will start the field events at 12:30, while the running events will begin with the women's mile trials at noon.
