BOISE, Idaho- Boise State student-athletes Marisa Howard and Kate Jette were named to the Capital One Academic Women's Track & Field/Cross Country District 7 Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Friday.
Howard, a nursing graduate with a 3.83 GPA through the Fall 2014 semester, claimed two Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field (3000m steeplechase, 5000m) titles in 2015. She holds three-straight MW 3000m steeplechase crowns in her four years of outdoor track & field. A two-time All American and a 2014 NCAA runner-up in the 3000m steeplechase, Howard will compete in the 2015 NCAA West Preliminary Rounds beginning on May 28 in hopes to earn a berth to NCAA Championships.
Jette, a senior from Clackamas, Ore., owns a 4.0 GPA in biology. She was honored earlier this year as a Top Ten Scholar, the highest academic honor granted to a Boise State University undergraduate student. Jette was honored as a Mountain West Scholar Athlete and additionally earned all-conference honors each year she competed. Having concluded her tenure at Boise State, Jette plans on pursuing her master's degree in teaching.
CoSIDA divides the country into eight districts for its academic all-america program. Howard, Jette and the rest of the All-District 7 Team now advance to the Capitol One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-Americans will be selected in late June.
