BOISE, Idaho - Boise State men’s basketball will be featured in the opening game of the 2015 DIRECTV Wooden Legacy against UC Irvine, ESPN Events announced Thursday with the official bracket release. The Broncos and Anteaters both return from 2015 NCAA Tournament appearances.
Boise State will take on UC Irvine Thursday, Nov. 26, at 1 p.m. PT. The Broncos’ game Friday, Nov. 27, will tip off at either 2 p.m. PT (with win Thursday) or 11:30 a.m. PT (with loss Thursday).
The first two rounds of the tournament (Nov. 26 and 27) take place at Titan Gym on the campus of Cal State Fullerton before moving to the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., for the last day of competition (Sunday, Nov. 29).
Also on Boise State’s side of the bracket are Michigan State and Boston College. The two opening-round games on the other side of the bracket pit Arizona against Santa Clara and Providence against Evansville.
Boise State’s first game will be televised on ESPNU. All 12 games of the tournament will be carried on the ESPN family of networks with five appearing on ESPN2, four on ESPNU and three on ESPN3.
UC Irvine was 21-13 a year ago, winning the Big West Conference Tournament and earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. The 13-seed Anteaters narrowly fell to Louisville, 57-55, in their first game. Highlighting UC Irvine’s returning squad is 7-foot-6 center Mamadou Ndiaye who averaged 10.5 points and 5.1 rebounds per game as a sophomore and elected to return to school after considering declaring for the NBA Draft.
