CLE ELUM, Wash. - Freshman Alex Francois, competing in just his second collegiate event, led the Broncos through the first two rounds of the Husky Invitational, Monday.
Francois carded rounds of 73-75 at the par-71, 6,887-yard Tumble Creek Club at the Suncadia Resort, and will enter Tuesday's final round tied for 21st.
Senior Shane Allor is just one stroke back of his teammate, tied for 24th at 149 (72-77, +7). Allor had been tied for ninth following his opening-round 1-over 72.
Boise State was in fifth place after the first round (296, +12), but dropped to a tie for eighth with Washington State with a second-round 304 (+20).
"It was a grind all day," head coach Dan Potter said. "A long day in tough conditions, and I was proud of the way the guys fought. We gave up a few shots at the end, but we battled hard.
"Today was a positive day for us and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do tomorrow."
Sophomore Tristan Rohrbaugh (79-74-153, +11) and senior Logan France (75-78-153, +11) are each tied for 40th, and junior Kyle Mitsunaga is tied for 48th at 154 (76-78, +12).
