COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State's Sierra Nobley has been named the Mountain West Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for matches played Sept. 14-20. Nobley, from Scottsdale, Ariz., hit 30.6 percent and averaged 4.7 kills per set to lead the Broncos to a second-place finish at the Grand Canyon University Invitational this past weekend in Phoenix, Ariz. This is the first player of the week honor for Nobley and the second for Boise State this season.
The sophomore outside hitter led Boise State to a 2-1 mark with wins over UC Riverside (3-1) and Grand Canyon (3-0), and a loss to Northern Arizona (1-3). On the week Nobley averaged 4.73 kills and tallied team-highs for kills and service aces with 52 and 10, respectively, in addition to 21 digs and team-second-best six blocks.
Nobley entered last week averaging 0.39 service aces and 5.46 points per set. She beat both last week in Phoenix averaging 0.91 service aces and 6.05 points.
In the NAU match Nobley recorded her second double-double of the year with 17 kills and 13 digs. In Boise State's four-set win over UCR on Saturday she recorded a team-high 21 kills while hitting a season-high 50 percent, in addition to a team-high four service aces and career-high six blocks, three solos. The Scottsdale, Ariz., native led the Broncos in the three-set win at Grand Canyon on Sunday with a team-best 14 kills while hitting 32 percent. She also added two assists, two service aces and eight digs in the victory.
