BOISE, Idaho - Boise State swimmer Brittany Aoyama was named Mountain West Swimmer Of The Week Monday, the eighth time in her career that the senior has earned the honor.
Aoyama was a perfect 8-for-8 in her events at the Chick-Fil-A Invitational this past weekend in Fresno, helping the Broncos top the team leaderboard with 1,002 points. In addition to being part of all five winning Boise State relays (200, 400 and 800 free relays, 200 and 400 medley relays), Aoyama captured the 50 and 100 frees and her signature event, the 100 fly.
The Stockton, Calif., native posted her first NCAA "B" cut of the season in the 100 fly, clocking a winning time of 53.46, and narrowly missed B cuts in the 50 free (her winning time of 23.06 was six-hundredths of a second off the cut) and 100 free (winning time of 50.19 was two-tenths of a second off the cut).
Boise State swimming returns to action Nov. 17-19 at the Texas A&M Invitational in Mansfield, Texas, while the Bronco divers travel that weekend to Flagstaff, Ariz., for the Lumberjack Invitational.
