2016 NCAA Championships Brackets | ESPN Broadcast Schedule
BOISE, Idaho -- Sophomore Geordan Martinez and redshirt senior Chris Castillo will represent Boise State at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, set for March 17-19 (Thursday-Saturday) at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Each earned an automatic berth to the national tournament with victories in their respective weight classes at the Pac-12 Championships (Feb. 27), and will be among 330 of the nation's top wrestlers attempting to bring home a national championship.
Martinez, the No. 12 seed at 149 pounds, will be making his second-straight appearance at the national tournament. He is scheduled to open with a first-round match-up against Lehigh's Laike Gardner.
Castillo, unseeded at 157 pounds, is making his first trip to the NCAA Championships. He will open the tournament against the No. 16 seed, Columbia's Markus Scheidel.
With the 2016 Summer Olympics on the horizon, the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships will mean a little more this year. Each of the NCAA Champions will automatically qualify for the Olympic trials in April.
For the third-straight year, ESPN will televise every session, every mat and every match. ESPN will televise the semifinals (March 18) and finals (March 19) in prime time and ESPNU will televise the first and second rounds (March 17), quarterfinals (March 18) and medal round (March 19).
ESPN3 will carry individual mat feeds throughout the tournament, allowing fans to choose which wrestlers and/or schools to follow at any time.
Additionally, for computer users, ESPN3 will once again offer multi-mat, simultaneous viewing which allows fans to watch up to four different mats at one time.
