TEMPE, Ariz. - The Boise State hammer throwers led off the Sun Angel Classic Friday night in Tempe, Ariz., with Karyna Armstrong leading the way for the women with an eighth-place finish thanks to a throw of 181-1 (55.20m). Britlie Silvester was right on the heels of Armstrong, recording a toss of 175-9 (53.58m) to finish in 10th.
Mallory Nelson took 21st (148-11 / 45.40m), Courtney Hutchinson finished in 22nd (140-2 / 42.73m) and Morgan Van Kooten was 23rd (110-5 / 33.67m).
On the men's side it was Juston Lindsley throwing a career-best 166-6 (50.76m) for ninth place. Drew Lindsley wasn't far behind, taking 13th with a throw of 149-5 (45.54m).
The rest of the Bronco contingent will compete tomorrow starting with the men's discus at 12:45 p.m. (MT).
