COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West announced its Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field All-Conference Teams on Monday, and Boise State received 12 honors between the men's and women's teams. All-league selections are awarded to the top-three finishers in each event from the Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Broncos earned nine all-conference nods on the track, and three more from field events.
David Elliott and Dusty Fisher led the way with two all-league honors each. Elliott began Saturday by taking second in the 1,500-meter run thanks to a time of 3:51.24, but then went on to capture the 5,000-meter title courtesy of a strong last 800 meters, giving him a time of 14:06.70.
Fisher was the most active Bronco at the championships, running the 200 meters, 400 meters and also a leg on the 4x400-meter relay team. The sophomore took third in both the 400-meter dash (47.78) and the 4x400-meter relay (3:15.43), and was just shy of an all-conference spot in the 200-meter dash, taking fourth after clocking a 21.13.
The Broncos' two other champions, Brenna Peloquin (5,000m) and Elijah Armstrong (10,000m), headlined the other all-conference honorees. Armstrong (30:08.25) won the 10K in thrilling fashion, splitting a 56.8-second last lap to push his way past Air Force's Patrick Corona. Peloquin's (16:19.11) 5K was equally as impressive, as the freshman pulled away from New Mexico's Alice Wright with 800 meters to go and didn't look back.
Other runner-up finishers include Fernando Martinez in the 400-meter hurdles (51.16), and also Minttu Hukka in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:14.06).
The field event honorees feature Camden Stoddard (pole vault), Jordan Ward (high jump) and Courtney Hutchinson (shot put). Stoddard cleared 15-9 (4.80m), Ward jumped an outdoor-season-best 5-8 (1.73m) and Hutchinson threw an outdoor-career-best 49-7 (15.11m).
Yusuke Uchikosi also turned in a productive meet, scoring 11 points between his third-place performance in the 5,000-meter run (14:13.56), and his fourth-place effort in the 3,000m steeplechase (9:11.87).
The 4x400-meter relay team of Fisher, Martinez, Rex Stanley and Bryce Kirby took third after crossing the line in 3:15.43 to pick up six points.
The Broncos should know all of their qualifiers for the NCAA West Regional by the end of the week. The regionals are scheduled to take place from May 26-28 in Lawrence, Kan.
