OMAHA, Neb. - The U.S. Olympic Team Swimming Trials began Sunday in Omaha, and rising senior Brittany Aoyama opened up the action for the three-woman Bronco contingent.
Aoyama, competing in the 100-meter butterfly, clocked a time of 1:01.76 in prelims, ranking 102nd in the field. She did not qualify for the evening finals.
It was the first of four events in which the Stockton, Calif. native will compete this week in Omaha. She will also compete in the 200 free Tuesday, along with teammate and rising junior Emma Chard, in the 100 free Thursday and the 50 free Saturday. Graduated senior Sam Wicks competes in the 100 back Monday at 9 a.m. MT.
