The Bronco Athletic Association (BAA) provided a record $4.3 million in scholarship support to Boise State student-athletes for the fiscal year ending June 30. The scholarship support represents an increase of more than $500,000 from last year's total.
The goal of the BAA is to fully cover the cost of all student-athlete scholarships, which totaled $5.15 million for the year. That total includes providing full cost of attendance to each of Boise State's 20 athletic programs. A priority for the department is to add new BAA members and generate additional funds to reach the $5.15 million scholarship goal every year.
"We are grateful for the terrific support BAA members have continued to provide to our department," said Director of Athletics Curt Apsey. "As we are faced with increasing costs to fund championship programs this support is vital in assuring our student-athletes have the best possible experience during their time as Broncos."
Total giving to athletics was $11.3 million and includes gifts to capital projects, sport enhancement funds, Stueckle Sky Center premium seating and Coaches Clubs. This support came from more than 5,100 donors.
The BAA is the fundraising arm of Boise State athletics and was founded in 1968. BAA officers for the 2015-16 year were Jay Larsen, President; Rod Meyer, Vice President; Brian Yeargain, Treasurer; Barbara Kennedy, Secretary and Dr. Bob Beede, Past President.
