LOGAN, Utah - The No. 11 Boise State gymnastics team enjoyed another large haul of weekly conference accolades as the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference (MRGC) announced their weekly honors on Monday morning. Sarah Means was named Vault Co-Specialist of the Week, Shani Remme and Diana Mejia both earned Uneven Bars Co-Specialists of the Week honors, Remme also was named Balance Beam Specialist of the Week and Sandra Collantes garnered Floor Specialist of the Week honors.
The numerous honors come on the heels of the Broncos' 196.400 - 193.525 win over BYU last Friday night at CenturyLink Arena. The win gives the Blue and Orange their first MRGC win of the season and the 196.400 was good for a season-high team score.
Means earned a career-high 9.875 on vault to win the event title as Boise State finished with a 49.050 on their opening apparatus. The recognition is the first career MRGC weekly honor for the Las Vegas native.
Mejia and Remme both received 9.925's on uneven bars in the second rotation to share the event crown. The 9.925 was a career high for Remme and it tied a previous career high for Mejia. The weekly accolade on bars is the second career nod for Mejia.
Behind Mejia and Remme, the Broncos were able to tally a 49.475 on bars to tie for the fifth-highest score on the apparatus in school history.
Remme kept the momentum rolling into balance beam, tying a career-high 9.925 to win her first beam title of the season. The two honors for the sophomore are the sixth and seventh career weekly accolades of her young career. Boise State finished with a season-high beam score of 49.175.
Collantes - a Second-Team All-America honoree on floor in 2016 - showed her proficiency in the event in posting a 9.9 to capture the victory which was also a new season high. She now has four weekly MRGC career honors to her name.
The Road To Nationals National Rankings were also updated Monday morning and the Broncos find themselves in a three-way tie at No. 11 with Missouri and fellow MRGC rival Southern Utah. Boise State currently boasts a 195.975 team score average, including a 49.208 average on uneven bars to slot them at No. 6 in that particular event.
The team will compete in their home opener against No. 11 Southern Utah on Friday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. as a part of Beauty and the Beast - an event where the gymnastics team and wrestling team will compete simultaneously in Taco Bell Arena.
