Boise State placed a school-record and league-high-tying 67 student-athletes on the Fall Academic All-Mountain West Team, the league office announced Tuesday. The contingent was part of a league-record 614 honored throughout the Mountain West.
The Broncos' 67 recipients were tied with Utah State for the most in the conference.
"I was proud of how we competed during the fall season, ultimately winning a pair of conference championships," Director of Athletics Curt Apsey said. "Our student-athletes are working hard, our coaches are bringing in young people that are adjusting well to college life and our academic staff is helping them find success in their chosen endeavor."
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on his or her athletic team.
Fall sports represented as part of the Academic All-MW Team included men's and women's cross country, football, soccer and volleyball.
The Bronco football team led the league with 31 honorees, the sixth time in as many seasons since joining the MW that Boise State has accomplished the feat.
Additionally, soccer (15) and men's cross country (six) tied program records since joining the MW, while women's cross country (eight) tied its best mark since joining the league and volleyball (seven) tied its second-best mark in program history.
