Broncos Fall 4-0 to Rice at BGNTC

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Boise State men's tennis lost 4-0 to Rice Friday morning in the opening round of the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic at Montgomery, Ala. Rice claimed the doubles point 2-0, then took the first three singles matches completed.

Kyle Butters led Boise State against the Owls leading his match at No. 1 singles 7-6, 1-2 over Rice's Jamie Malik when the contest was stopped following the Owls clinching the victory.

Greg Wischer was in his third set after rallying from one down to force the extra frame when his match was also abandoned. His score versus Emanuel Llamas on court six was 3-6, 6-2, 1-2 when play was stopped.

Rice claimed the victory by taking the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. The Owls then recorded wins at No. 3, 4 and 5 singles to clinch the match.

Boise State will continue on in the consolation bracket on Saturday when they face Alabama who lost 4-2 to Virginia Tech today.
