INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Boise State opened the 2017 NCAA Championships Wednesday, finishing 23rd in the 800 free relay. The relay was the only event swum on day one of the championships.
The quartet of Emma Chard, Brittany Aoyama, Cody Evans and Felicity Cann finished eighth in the second of the three relay heats with a time of 7:07.68.
"We have to deal with it. We have to get over it, put it in the past, have a team meeting and move on," said Boise State head coach Jeremy Kipp.
Stanford captured the gold in the event, clocking a winning time of 6:45.91, followed by California (6:51.42) in second and Michigan (6:53.63) in third.
The Broncos continue competition at the NCAA Championships Thursday, with prelims beginning at 8 a.m. MT. Chard will be in action in the 500 free, while Aoyama and Katelyn Martin swim in the 50 free. The 200 free relay and 400 medley relay are also scheduled for Thursday.
