BOISE, Idaho - Boise State men’s basketball will play its second round game of the National Invitation Tournament Monday, March 20, at Illinois. The game will tip off at 8 p.m. CT/7 p.m. MT, from the State Farm Center in Champaign, Ill., and will be nationally televised on ESPN.
The Broncos (20-11) are the No. 6 seed in the Illinois State quadrant, the Fighting Illini (19-14) are the No. 2 seed.
Boise State advanced to the second round with a 73-68 win Tuesday, at Utah. It was the program’s first road win in a postseason tournament and the third road win against a school from one of the five power conferences. Now the Broncos will look to add to both totals against Illinois, which finished ninth in the Big Ten and defeated Valparaiso 82-57 Tuesday, in the first round of the NIT.
This is the second all-time meeting between Boise State and Illinois. The Illini claimed an 84-77 win Dec. 5, 2009, in Champaign.
The Broncos last appeared on ESPN for their Dec. 10, 2013, game at Kentucky. Prior to the tilt with the Wildcats, Boise State’s previous game televised on ESPN was the 1999 Big West championship game.
