COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State's Brooke Pahukoa has been named the Mountain West Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the final week of the regular season. The senior led Boise State to a sweep last week of the final two regular season games 66-48 at Fresno State and 72-48 over Air Force at home to extend the Broncos win streak to a league-best seven. This is Pahukoa's first player of the week honor this season and the fourth of her career.
PAHUKOA'S HIGHLIGHTS FROM LAST WEEK
Led the team in scoring during both contests averaging 22.0 points per game while shooting 65.4 percent (17-26) from the floor, 60 percent (3-5) from behind the 3-point arc and 87.5 percent (7-8) from the free-throw line.
In the victory at Fresno State, Pahukoa recorded two personal fouls two minutes into the contest which forced her to the bench. She returned to the game in the second quarter to lead Boise State's decisive 29-9 run to take control of the game by scoring 14 points shooting 6-of-7 from the floor.
She finished the Fresno State contest with her seventh 20-plus point game scoring a team-high 21 points going 9-of-14 (.643) from the floor and 2-of-2 from the 3-point arc as the Broncos cruised to a 66-48 victory on the road.
Her 21 points at Fresno State moved her into ninth-place on the Boise State career scoring list with 1,263 … after the Air Force game she is at 1,286.
In the win versus Air Force, Pahukoa paced the Broncos from the start scoring eight of Boise State's 14 first quarter points on 4-of-5 shooting from the hardwood, she eventually finished with 14 of Boise State's 30 first half points.
Against the Falcons the senior ended up tallying her eighth 20-plus point game scoring a team-high 23 on 8-of-12 (.667) with one 3-pointer and went 6-of-7 (.857) from the free-throw line … she also had one rebound, team-high (tied) three assists, one block and team-best (tied) three steals.
