BOISE, Idaho - Boise State senior Cassidy Edwards was one of 11 Mountain West student-athletes honored Wednesday night as a 2016-17 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Community Service Award winner and member of the All-MW SAAC Community Service Team.
The honors were announced at the Mountain West Basketball Championships Wednesday night at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Edwards has been one of Boise State softball's top leaders when it comes to community service. The softball program put in a combined 642 hours of service in the Boise area last fall alone.
On the field, Edwards has started all 17 games for the Broncos in 2017, batting .348 with seven runs scored, and is a perfect 6-for-6 on stolen-base attempts.
In conjunction with the MW Community Service Challenge, the Conference also announced its All-MW SAAC Community Service Team. In a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition, one student-athlete from each institution who went above and beyond helping to promote and participate in community service activities was recognized for their efforts.
