BOISE, Idaho -- Boise State women's tennis made quick work of Whitman University on Saturday morning, defeating the visiting Blues 7-0 at Boas Indoor Tennis Center.

"Being 1-0 is a great place to be to start off a season, so I think first and foremost we are excited about that," said head coach Beck Roghaar. "We are really excited about a lot of the individual performances, showing maturity in some spots where in the past we might not have."

The Broncos (1-0) swept the doubles point, with Anja Dokic/Wiktoria Nosek defeating Whitman's Mary Hill/Hann Greenberg 6-4 on court one, Wilhelmina Palmer/Jovana Kuljanin defeating Andrea Gu/Cello Lockwood of Whitman 6-4 on court two and Hanna Kantenwein/Vanessa Timm took care of Lori/Sheng/Anastasiya Redkina 6-0 at the third position.

The Broncos then turned their focus to singles, where they played out all six matches. At No. 6, Nancy Menjivar finished first as she defeated Lorin DeMuth 6-1, 6-0. Then at the four spot Palmer took care of Redkina, 6-2, 6-1. Freshman Vanessa Timm clinched the meet for the Broncos, as she defeated Sheng at the five spot, 6-1, 6-1. Dokic, competing at No. 1 singles finished next, as she defeated Hill 6-2, 6-4. Nosek came through next, defeating Gu at the No. 2 spot, the highest she has ever competed, 6-2, 6-3.

"I thought Wiktoria Nosek did a great job stepping in for us at the No. 2 spot from a competitive standpoint," explained Roghaar. "She came out the right way in doubles. She may not have executed things like she normally does in practice early, but I was proud to see her stay with it and keep trusting in that process that she was going to start executing. I think that momentum when she started to play well at the end of the doubles match really carried over to singles. I was happy to see her compete consistently from start to finish today."

The close match of the day was Kantenwein vs. Greenberg at the No. 3 spot. Kantenwein dropped the first set, 4-6, before stepping back up with a 6-1 set two win. Kantenwein then won the third set tiebreak, 10-3 to finish off the sweep for the Broncos.

The Broncos will now head out on the road next week, visiting Arizona on Friday, Jan. 26.
