Erlam Grabs Boise State Athlete of the Week Honors

Freshman dives into the record book in collegiate debut

BOISE, Idaho – Marti Erlam's impressive Boise State debut has earned the freshman diver Boise State Athlete of the Week honors for competitions held Oct. 8-14. Erlam competed only in the dual against Idaho, as the diving events were not contested in Sunday's dual against Washington State.

Erlam dove straight into the Bronco record book in her collegiate debut, posting marks of 324.67 in the 3-meter and 302.10 in the 1-meter diving events. Erlam won both events, finishing ahead of second place by 40 points in the 3-meter and winning the 1-meter by 13 points.

The Calgary, Alberta, native now ranks third on the Boise State record book in the 3-meter event and sixth in the 1-meter – while establishing new freshman bests in program history. She also recorded NCAA Zone qualifying scores in both springboard events.

Behind Erlam's 18 points, the Broncos handily downed the Vandals 171-118 in Christine Maible's debut as head coach. Even with the divers not competing against Washington State, Boise State still downed the Pac-12 opponent, 151-108, to record a sweep on the weekend.
