FULLERTON, Calif. -
The Broncos returned to action Monday with a strong showing at the Bill Cullum Invitational. With play suspended late in the second round due to darkness, the Broncos are in third place at -6.
Head coach Dan Potter was happy with the scores today, "
The guys were really solid today. Everybody was in it both rounds. The conditions were tough this morning but the winds calmed down enough to make some birdies in the afternoon. Our guys have been playing better than the scores reflected in our last couple tournaments so it was nice to see some red numbers on the board today. Hopefully, we can keep it going tomorrow."
Junior Brian Humphreys
continues to lead the charge finishing day one in third with opening rounds of 72-67 (-5). That second-round 67 marks Humphreys' lowest round of the season, and featured seven birdies. Junior Michael Rizzo
finished the day under par as well as he heads into the final round tied for 13th at -1 (76-67).
The final three players will conclude their second rounds Tuesday morning.
Freshman Hugo Townsend
closed the day tied for 52nd with a hole left to play. Townsend opened with a 78 and is currently one-under in round two. Junior Mason Schulze
finished play at even par, tied for 16th with an opening round 71 and is currently one-over in round two. Sophomore Skyler Eubank
concluded the day tied for 26th with an opening round 75 and is one-under in round two.
Round two will resume at 8 a.m. MT Tuesday morning with round three beginning immediately after.
