WHAT IS HAPPENING THIS WEEK

  • Boise State (13-8, 5-5 MW) closes a three-match homestand this week with Nevada and San Jose State in Bronco Gym.
  • The Broncos open the week by hosting the Nevada Wolf Pack (8-13, 1-9 MW) Thursday at 7:30 p.m. (Mountain). Boise State won the first meeting of the year at Reno 3-0. 
  • Boise State wraps up the week against the San Jose State Spartans (9-10, 4-6 MW) at 2 p.m. on Saturday. SJSU defeated the Broncos 3-0 earlier this year at San Jose.

BRONCOS BY THE NUMBERS

  • Leaders: Sabryn Roberts leads Boise State with 3.84 kills per set (3rd MW / 69th NCAA) ... Jessica Donahue adds 2.19 kps and team-high 1.35 blocks per set (3rd MW / 27th NCAA) ... Morgan Hughes averages 2.12 kps and 1.06 bps (11th MW).
  • Team: As a team the Broncos are hitting 21 percent (6th MW) while holding opponents to 17.4 percent (4th MW / 57th NCAA) ... they average 12.85 kills (4th MW), 12.04 assists (5th MW), 1.56 service aces (5th MW / 49th NCAA), 14.29 digs (5th MW) and 2.49 blocks per set (3rd MW / 43rd NCAA).

KEY TRENDS FOR BRONCOS

ROBERTS HITS 1,000 CAREER KILLS

  • Senior outside hitter Sabryn Roberts is the 15th member of the 1,000 career kills club.
  • Roberts currently has 1,195 career kills to ranked sixth all time, 14 short of tying for 5th.
  • Roberts moved from ninth into seventh place for career kills at Boise State with 29 kills combined against San Diego State and Fresno State (Oct. 4-6), she started the year in 20th with 889. 
  • She moved into sixth over the week of Oct. 11-13 with a combined 24 kills at CSU and Wyoming.

DONAHUE, MASTER OF THE BLOCK

  • True freshman Jessica Donahue has made a huge impact for the Broncos at the net recording 85 blocks to date.
  • Donahue missed the first five MW matches before returning to action against Fresno State (Oct. 6) when she recorded a team-high seven blocks. 
  • She is currently tied for 12th in the MW for total blocks ... third in the MW and ranked 27th nationally in blocks per set at 1.35.
  • In her first collegiate match versus Long Beach State, Donahue set the Boise State freshman record for blocks in a match with 10.
  • Her 10 blocks against Long Beach State is ranked tied for seventh in program history.

MORGAN HUGHES SERVING UP ACES

  • Senior transfer Morgan Hughes has made an immediate impact on the team leading the team in service aces with 37  to rank third in the MW and 18th nationally.
  • She is fourth in the MW and 18th in the NCAA for service aces per set at 0.46.
  • Hughes has also impacted the team's defense, she is tied for the team high and is tied for 12th in MW for blocks (85) ... second on team and 11th in MW for blocks per set at 1.06.

NEVADA MATCH PREVIEW

  • The Broncos open week six of MW play by hosting Nevada at 7:30 p.m. (Mountain) on Thursday night.  
  • This will be the 59th meeting all-time with Boise State leading the series 31-27 ... the Broncos won the first meeting of the year 3-0 in Reno.    
  • Nevada enters the week at 8-13 overall and 1-9 in league ... the Wolf Pack has lost six straight, including a pair of home matches last week to Fresno State (3-1) and San Diego State (3-1).
  • Nevada is hitting 19 percent (9th MW) on the year and holding opponents to 22.2 percent (9th MW) ... the Wolf Pack are led by Kayla Afoa averaging 3.21 kills per set(7th MW) and Jamila Minor averaging 3.07 kills per set. 
  • The Wolf Pack were picked 10th in this year's MW coaches preseason poll. 

SAN JOSE STATE MATCH PREVIEW

  • The Broncos will wrap up the week at home on Saturday versus San Jose State at 2 p.m.  
  • This will be the 35th meeting all-time with the series tied at 17 ... the Spartans swept the Broncos earlier this year in San Jose.  
  • San Jose State enters the week at 9-10 overall and 4-6 in conference ... the Spartans have won of their last four matches and are coming off a split at home last week defeating San Diego State (3-2) before falling to Fresno State (3-1).
  • The Spartans are hitting 19 percent (8th MW) on the year and holding opponents to 21.1 percent (8th MW) ... SJSU is led by Fernanda Vido with 192 kills to average 2.82 per set ... Latahevai Lousi leads in kills per set averaging 3.11 (9th MW).
  • San Jose State was picked sixth in this year's MW coaches preseason poll.
