BOISE, Idaho – Allie Ostrander
has been named the Boise State Athlete of the Week for competitions held between Nov. 4-11. The redshirt junior cruised to a 13-second victory at the NCAA West Regional, Nov. 9 in Sacramento, Calif.
Ostrander took the lead early in the 6-kilometer race, and put a 25-meter gap on the rest of the field before the first mile marker. She continued to extend her lead throughout the race, winning the highly-competitive West Region in 19:09.0 for the seventh victory of her career. Ostrander is now tied with Emma Bates (2010-14) for the most cross country victories in program history.
The individual victory helped lead the third-ranked Broncos to a runner-up finish in the West Region. Boise State finished five points behind second-ranked Oregon (44-49), but still secured an automatic bid to the national championships. On the men's side, Boise State finished third, only 25 points back of first place, but received an at-large bid to the national championships on Saturday.
Madison, Wisc. will be the site of the 2018 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships, Nov. 17.
