COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State freshman Alison Seng has been named the Mountain West Softball Player of the Week for games played March 12-18, the conference announced Tuesday. Seng is the second Bronco to earn the award this season (Kora Wade, March 6).
Seng batted a phenomenal .800 on the week as Boise State went 5-0, including a 3-0 sweep over Utah State to open Mountain West play. The Garden Grove, Calif. native was 12-for-15 at the plate, with eight RBIs, one home run, three doubles and eight total bases. Seng scored seven runs, and had one stolen base on one attempt.
In the second game of the series against Utah State, Seng had a two RBI single in the fifth inning as part of the Broncos 13-run inning to turn a five-run deficit into an eight-run lead.
On the season, Seng leads the team in batting average at .451. The freshman has played in all 26 games, making 23 starts.
Boise State will host San Jose State, the defending Mountain West champions, for their home conference opener, March 23-25. Both teams are tied for first in the conference with a 3-0 record in conference play.
