MARICOPA, Ariz. - The Boise State women's golf team has two golfers in the top 25 following the first day of the Cowgirl Classic, Monday at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club. The Broncos are currently in a tie for seventh out of 20 teams, shooting 594 (295-299, +11).
The first round score of 295 is the lowest of the season for the team, while this is also the first tournament this season Boise State has shot consecutive rounds under 300 strokes.
Freshmen Lexi Perry and Alejandra Lobelo lead the team in a tie for 23rd. Perry shot consistent rounds of 74 and 73 (147, +3), while Lobelo shot even in the first round to finish at 3-over (71-76 - 147).
Junior Ivane Helias had the best improvement on the day, posting a 10-stroke improvement in the second round. Helias ended the day at 153 (81-71, +8).
Kinsley Bonfilio (73-82 - 155, +11) and Nicole Suppelsa (77-79 - 156, +12) round out the scoring for Boise State.
The tournament will conclude with tomorrow's final round, set to begin at 8:30 a.m. MT.
